IT’S NATIONAL PICNIC WEEK!
(Yes, we know. We’ve seen the forecast. We’re choosing optimism.)
The great British picnic has never let a bit of drizzle stand in its way — and we’re not about to start now! After all, the word “picnic” dates back to 17th century France — pique-nique — and if the French can do it with style, so can we. Brollies at the ready!
National Picnic Week runs 14–21 June and whatever the weather decides to do this week, here are some of the most beautiful spots in Devon and Cornwall just waiting for a break in the clouds…
Devon
Haytor, Dartmoor — epic moorland views (even better in the mist, we reckon!)
Spitchwick, River Dart — lush, green and gorgeous whatever the sky is doing
Bantham Beach, South Devon — a dramatic, stormy sea has its own kind of magic
Bellever Forest, Dartmoor — woodland shelter AND Dartmoor ponies. Win win.
Fernworthy Reservoir — misty moorland vibes? Honestly stunning
Plymouth Hoe — wrap up, breathe in that sea air and feel ALIVE
Cockington Country Park, Torquay — thatched cottage charm, rain or shine
Watersmeet, Exmoor — a river gorge that looks magical in every season
And here’s our hot tip for picnicking in unpredictable British weather…
Forget the fancy spread. Pack a blanket, find a sheltered spot, and let Langage Farm do the important bit — our award-winning ice cream, our famous Devonshire Clotted Cream for scones, and our gorgeous yogurts are picnic perfection, sunshine or showers!
Because honestly? Ice cream tastes just as good in a light drizzle!
