Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

introduction

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is a response to Section 54(1), Part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and relates to the commercial actions and activities of Langage Farm LLP. Being a responsible business is not only the right thing to do ethically, but is also good for the long-term sustainability of our business We have zero-tolerance towards slavery and require our supply chain to comply with our values. We believe in the following overriding principles:

  • Employment is freely chosen
  • No forced, bonded or involuntary labour
  • Employees must not be required to lodge monies or identity papers in order to work
  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
  • Working conditions are safe and hygienic
  • Child labour shall not be used
  • National Minimum Wage & Living wages are paid

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Langage Farm has its business operations in Devon, in the United Kingdom.

We are a family-owned business operating in the Food (Dairy) Manufacturing sector producing clotted creams, yogurts and ice cream. The nature of our supply chains is as follows: we work with a number of key direct suppliers, who provide us with good and services such as raw milk, packaging and equipment for our commercial operations.

DUE DILIGENCE

We take all allegations of slavery and human trafficking seriously. As part of our efforts to monitor and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains, we have adopted the following due diligence procedures:

Internal supplier audits

Our due diligence procedures aim to:

Identify and action potential risks in our business and supply chains

Monitor potential risks in our business and supply chains

Reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our business and supply chains

RISK & COMPLIANCE

We do not tolerate slavery and human tracking in our operations or our supply chains. Where there is evidence of failure to comply with our procedures by any of our suppliers, we will seek to terminate our relationship with that supplier immediately. The Company has evaluated the nature and extent of its exposure to the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring. We do not consider that we operate in a high-risk environment because the majority of our supply chain is based in the UK and in low-risk industries.

EFFECTIVENESS

Given our view that Langage Farm’s exposure to modern slavery risk is limited, and the existing due diligence processes we already have in place as an organization, we have not implemented any specific training of our employees or key performance Indicators (KPIs) in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking this year.

However, following review of the effectiveness of the steps taken to prevent modern slavery or human trafficking occurring in our business and UK supply chain, we intend to take the following actions:

  • We will continue to monitor the risk to our UK supply chain on an ongoing basis
  • We will train our staff about modern slavery issues and promote and ensure awareness within the Company. A section on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking will be included in the new employee induction programme and employee handbook.
  • We commit to review our Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement on a regular (annual) basis.
