Hello November!

November has a quiet charm. The days grow shorter, temperatures dip, and there’s a certain peace that fills the countryside. The trees, though shedding their last few leaves, seem to glow with their final vibrant colours, and the cooler air feels crisp and comforting. At Langage Farm Dairy, this is one of our favourite times of year—a season that’s all about slowing down, indulging in rich, warming food, and embracing the beauty of autumn before winter fully arrives.

Our farm, nestled in the heart of Devon, is bursting with the finest local ingredients that pair perfectly with November’s desire for something cosy. And as you might still have a pumpkin or two left over from Halloween, or even just a craving for something deeply satisfying and homemade, we’ve got some seasonal inspiration to make the most of it.

Perhaps it’s a creamy pumpkin soup on the hob, the kind that’s thick with autumn spices and blended to a velvety smoothness, enhanced by a swirl of Langage Farm’s double cream for that extra richness. This simple, humble soup brings out the best of leftover pumpkins—roasted, blended, and given new life as a warming bowlful that’s perfect to share.

Of course, we know that November isn’t just about the main courses—it’s a month of indulgence and a little extra warmth in everything, right down to the dessert. Pumpkin cheesecake might just be the ultimate seasonal treat, and if you use our thick natural yoghurt as the base, you get a lighter twist without sacrificing richness. Mixed with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of honey, it’s a dessert that’s comforting, festive, and just sweet enough.

And for those family days or weekends when you’re not just cooking but enjoying the countryside, Devon’s natural beauty has so much to offer this time of year. Dartmoor National Park is at its finest, with paths winding through golden fields and the last of the autumn leaves clinging to trees. Nothing completes a Dartmoor picnic like a flask of homemade hot chocolate, elevated with a touch of Langage Farm double cream, a pinch of cinnamon, and a few squares of dark chocolate melted into a rich, luxurious blend. a

Another idyllic spot is Saltram House, where the gardens transform into an autumn wonderland with their deep reds, oranges, and yellows. There’s a beauty in the bare branches, the crispness of the fallen leaves underfoot, and the simplicity of nature. Buckland Abbey is another gem worth exploring, full of history and set in the tranquil Devon landscape—ideal for a quiet day out with family or friends.

So grab that last pumpkin, pick up a tub of our double cream or natural yoghurt, and let the comforts of the season unfold around you. This is November at its finest: peaceful, heartwarming, and full of flavour.
