Instructions:

  • For the Cupcakes:
  • Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F/Gas Mark 4). Line a muffin tin with Halloween-themed cupcake liners.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the self-raising flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this dry mixture aside.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and caster sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and milk, alternating between the two, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Divide the cupcake batter equally among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
  • Let the cupcakes cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the Frosting:
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add the icing sugar, Langage Farm double cream, and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until you have a smooth and fluffy frosting.
  • Divide the frosting into two portions. Colour one portion with orange food colouring and the other with black food colouring. Mix until you achieve your desired colours.
  • Decorating the Cupcakes:
  • Once the cupcakes are completely cool, use a piping bag to frost them with the orange and black frosting. You can use different piping tips to create various designs.
  • Decorate the Halloween cupcakes with candy eyes, miniature chocolate chips (as spiders), gummy worms, and Halloween-themed sprinkles to create spooky and fun designs.

Enjoy your homemade Halloween cupcakes!
