At Langage Farm, our cows aren’t just part of the process – they’re part of the family. Since 1948, our farming family has been looking after a very special herd, and over the decades, they’ve remained the true stars of the show.
Set across 280 acres of beautiful Devon countryside, our girls live in the kind of setting most cows could only dream of – rolling green fields, fresh air, and the freedom to just… be cows.
🌿 Life on the Land
During the warmer months, our herd spends up to 22 hours a day outside, gently grazing the lush pastures that surround our farm. It’s a calm, relaxed lifestyle where they can chew the cud in peace, socialise with the rest of the herd, and soak up the mild Devon sunshine. The only reason they come indoors is for milking – and maybe the occasional curious nosey around the parlour!
Thanks to Devon’s unusually mild climate, our grass stays greener and more nutritious for longer. That means our cows enjoy a natural, grass-rich diet for much of the year, which in turn helps produce the exceptionally creamy, rich milk that makes Langage Farm dairy products so distinctive.
🏠 A Winter Retreat
When winter rolls in – or when the weather turns a bit too typically British – our herd moves into purpose-built barns designed to keep them warm, dry, and comfortable. These barns are spacious, well-ventilated, and lined with soft bedding, ensuring the girls are cared for all year round, whatever the forecast.

Looking after our cows isn’t just a job – it’s a commitment we’ve upheld for generations. Every member of the team knows the herd by heart, and we take pride in creating an environment where our cows can thrive.
