Hello, and a very warm welcome to our first Langage Farm blog…The Dairy Diary!
We’re going to be blogging once each month about life on our family farm, from new ice cream flavours and meal ideas to our wonderful wildlife and stunning location. We’ll chew the cud and bring you the latest news….or should that be ‘moo’s’!
So, what’s new this month?
Well, we’re delighted to launch our brand new website! It’s taken a lot of hard work and a real team effort. Up in the office here, Ben was hunting through old family photographs and speaking to relatives to get a fantastic historic timeline about Langage Farm. It’s amazing to see just how far we have come. There’s a great image of the original Langage Farm Shop in 1988 – such a difference to the international company we are today. Langage Farm is stocked in supermarkets and farm shops, cafes and restaurants and now, even in Australia! All our products are still made the traditional way in small batches and we’re still a family business.
We also make goodies for other companies including Marks & Spencer who stock a brand new product we created for them…Strawberry Clotted Cream! It’s back in their stores again this summer after a successful trial last year.
Down on the farm, our herd of Jersey & Guernsey cows are all doing well. The weather was warm with lots of rain these past few weeks. Not good for sunbathing but it’s been great for the grass which our cows love. I like nothing better than a walk through our fields here to see them. They’re such a happy herd!
In the factory it’s been all hands to the pump lately as orders are flying in for ice creams and creams. With lockdown restrictions easing and as businesses are opening up again, the phone has been almost non stop ringing. With the summer holidays also approaching, cafes, pubs, restaurants, ice cream parlours and shops are stocking up on Langage.
Finally, Wednesday was World Chocolate Day…or should that be all week!. Great if, like me, you adore chocolate! Perfect excuse to get in the kitchen and cook something chocolatey. See our recipes page for an easy Chocolate Molten Cake idea!
