The Ultimate Hot Chocolate

By whisking a generous dollop of our award-winning Devonshire Clotted Cream into your drink, you create a silkiness that you simply can’t get with milk alone. It’s thick, rich, and udderly delicious!

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 500ml whole milk (Jersey or Guernsey milk is best if you can get it!)

  • 100g high-quality dark chocolate (60% to 70% cocoa solids), finely chopped

  • 2 large tablespoons of Langage Farm Devonshire Clotted Cream (plus extra for the top!)

  • A pinch of sea salt

  • Optional: A drizzle of salted caramel or a dusting of cocoa powder

Method

  1. Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk over a medium flame until it begins to simmer. Do not let it reach a rolling boil.

  2. Melt the Chocolate: Turn the heat down to low and add your chopped chocolate. Whisk continuously until the chocolate has completely melted into the milk.

  3. The Langage Secret: Add two heaped tablespoons of Langage Farm Clotted Cream and a tiny pinch of salt. Whisk vigorously until the cream has incorporated and the mixture looks frothy and thick.

  4. Serve: Pour into your favourite mugs.

  5. The Finishing Touch: Because we believe in “Cream First” here in Devon, top each mug with another dollop of cold clotted cream. It will slowly melt into the hot chocolate, creating a marbled, velvety dream.
