National Pie Day!

National Pie Day on January 23rd is the perfect excuse to enjoy one of Britain’s most comforting and classic dishes! Here at Langage Farm, we believe every pie, whether savoury or sweet, deserves a Devonshire touch.

The history of pie is ancient, dating back to the Romans who used crusts primarily to preserve fillings. It wasn’t until medieval Europe that the crust became edible and truly delicious, paving the way for the golden, flaky perfection we love today.

Fascinating Pie Facts:
A UK Record! In 1998, the town of Denby Dale in Yorkshire baked a monumental pie weighing over 12 tonnes!

Pie in the Sky: The famous phrase originated in 1911, referring to an impossible hope.

English Origins: The very first recorded recipe for an apple pie dates all the way back to England in 1381!
