Ingredients:
For the Coffee:
150ml freshly brewed, strong black coffee (filter or cafetière works best)
50ml good quality Irish Whiskey
1 teaspoon brown sugar (or to taste)
For the Topping:
1 heaped tablespoon of Langage Farm Devonshire Clotted Cream
A splash of milk (about 1-2 teaspoons)
Instructions:
Warm the Glass: Pour some hot water into your heatproof Irish Coffee glass or mug, let it sit for a moment, and then discard the water. This helps keep your drink warm for longer.
Sweeten the Coffee: Add the brown sugar to the warmed glass, followed by the strong black coffee. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Add the Whiskey: Pour in the 50ml of Irish Whiskey. Stir the mixture gently.
Prepare the Cream Topping: This is where the magic happens! In a small bowl, combine the heaped tablespoon of Langage Farm Devonshire Clotted Cream with a tiny splash of milk. Use a spoon or whisk to gently mix until the clotted cream is just loosened and has a soft, flowing texture (you want it slightly runny, but still thick).
Float the Cream: Gently pour the loosened clotted cream mixture over the back of a spoon, holding the spoon just above the surface of the coffee. The cream should float on top, forming a luxurious layer.
Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy the beautiful contrast between the hot, spirited coffee and the cold, rich clotted cream topping.
