Hello my lovelies. I’m Lucy and I’m here to tell you about our very special campaign to recognise the loooovely Devonshire Cream Tea!

A genuine Devonshire Cream Tea needs to have all components (scone, clotted cream and jam) produced in Devon.  This PDO will help protect the future of Devon food producers and the Devon farming community.

We discovered that the Devonshire Cream Tea originated in 997AD in Tavistock, where Ordulph, the Earl of Devon initiated the restoration of the Benedictine Abbey.  Monks from the Abbey rewarded local workers by serving them bread and clotted cream.

Sugar was expensive then, so if you were wealthy you would offer jam with your Devonshire Cream Tea.
