Berry & Apple Pie

Ingredients:

For the Base:

    • 375g ready-made shortcrust pastry (rolled out to fit a 23cm pie dish)

  • For the Filling:

    • 4 large cooking apples (like Bramley), peeled, cored, and chopped

    • 200g frozen or fresh mixed berries

    • 50g light brown sugar

    • 1 tablespoon plain flour

  • For the Crumble Topping:

    • 150g plain flour

    • 100g cold butter, cubed

    • 75g caster sugar

  • To Serve:

    • A chilled tub of Langage Farm Devonshire Clotted Cream

Instructions:

  1. Prep: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan/Gas Mark 4). Line your 23cm pie dish with the ready-made shortcrust pastry.

  2. Make the Filling: In a large bowl, mix the chopped apples, mixed berries, brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Spoon the mixture directly into the pastry-lined dish.

  3. Make the Crumble: In a separate bowl, rub the 150g of flour and cubed cold butter together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in the 75g of caster sugar.

  4. Assemble: Scatter the crumble mixture evenly over the fruit filling.

  5. Bake: Bake for about 40 minutes until the crumble is golden brown and the fruit filling is bubbling nicely.

  6. Enjoy the Devon Way! Let the pie cool slightly before serving warm. The key? Serve with big dollops of our famous Langage Farm Devonshire Clotted Cream. The melt-in-the-mouth cream is the perfect contrast to the warm, fruity filling.
